Mohd Suhaimi Saad, born on October 12, 1980, and tragically passing away on November 15, 2023, was a prominent figure in the Malaysian nasyid music scene. Not only was he a former member of the In-Team group from 2000 to 2005, but he also made significant contributions to the genre.

In 2005, Suhaimi decided to part ways with In-Team and returned to the Hijjaz label Records Sdn. Bhd. Later on, he established his own management, Karya Mosus. However, in 2021, he surprised many by announcing his resignation as a nasyid singer, expressing a desire not to be immediately recognized by the title “ustaz” (Islamic scholar).

Apart from his musical career, Suhaimi gained attention for his involvement in the anti-vaccine movement in Malaysia.

Early Life and Education:

Suhaimi was born on October 12, 1980, the fifth child of six siblings. His mother hailed from Kodiang, while his father came from Tunjang, Kedah Darul Aman. He received his early education at Sekolah Kebangsaan LKTP Tementi, Triang (1987-1992), and later attended Sekolah Menengah Agama Al-Wusto, Temerloh (1993-1998). His pursuit of education continued at the International Islamic University of Malaysia, where he majored in Arabic.

Suhaimi was known for pioneering homeschooling, opting to personally teach his children the basics of reading, writing, counting, and the fundamentals of Al-Quran at home before sending them to tahfiz madrasah.

Private Life:

On August 12, 2007, Suhaimi Saad married Ina Naim at Jamek Sungai Ara Mosque, Kota Tinggi, Johor Darul Takzim. The couple was blessed with four children: Ehmad Hadie Elfardie (2008), Sallman Elkhoyri (2010), Phyrosh Elfadwah (2012), and Nur Layla Elghufrony (2014). Notably, Ina was previously engaged to Mawi, the champion of Akademi Fantasia Season 3.

Death:

Tragically, on November 15, 2023, Suhaimi Saad passed away at 7:40 pm at Sultan Ismail Hospital, Johor Bahru, Johor. The cause of death was a bacterial infection in the lungs, which had led to his admission to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). His hospitalization followed a period of chronic cough and prolonged diarrhea.

Legacy and Achievements:

Suhaimi Saad’s contributions to the nasyid genre were recognized with awards. He once won the Best Nasyid Song and Best Nasyid Lyrics categories for the song “Selamat Tinggal Dunia” at the Nasyid Awards of the Week. Additionally, his latest song, “Cinta Sidna,” is currently nominated for the title of Best Nasyid Song at the Music Industry Awards (AIM-22), alongside formidable competitors. Another recent single, “Millionaire Pemurah,” was launched last Ramadhan, further showcasing Suhaimi’s musical prowess and versatility.
