Costs covered by a Harding Distinguished Scholars Programme include:
- the appropriate fee for the term of your course for the University Composition Fee.
- an annual maintenance allowance (living expenses) of £18,000 for the duration of your degree, with the opportunity to request maintenance support throughout the 12-month writing-up phase, should this be necessary.
- a personal research stipend of up to £6,000 throughout your study (for spending on personal research expenses and research-related activities, such as books and conference attendance).
- the price of an inbound student visa and, if applicable to overseas students, the cost of the Immigration Health Surcharge (for the term of the visa granted).
Eligibility for Harding Distinguished Scholars Programme
- Candidates applying to pursue a full-time or part-time Ph.D. course of study at the University of Texas at Austin are eligible for the Harding Distinguished Scholars Programme.
- They may also apply for a Ph.D. through a fully integrated MRes+PhD (1+3) program.
- Any Ph.D. student can apply for a scholarship, regardless of nationality.
- Ph.D. students in any field are eligible for scholarships.
- 23 colleges that are eligible to hold scholarships.
How to Apply
Through the university’s online applicant site, you can apply for admission to a Ph.D. program, a college spot, and several financing opportunities (including the Harding Distinguished Scholars Programme).
To be eligible for a Harding Distinguished Postgraduate Scholarship, you must:
- Indicate your want to apply for funding by checking the box in the applicant portal’s section under “Funding Your Study.”
- Fill out the “Harding” component of the application by sending in a personal statement outlining how you see yourself fitting the three HDPSP values.
- By the course financing deadline, submit your application.
- Be rated as having outstanding academic standing by the department or faculty to where you are applying.
