Tariq Jameel’s Biography

Maulana Tariq Jameel, Born on October 1, 1953, is a Pakistani Muslim television preacher, author, and academic who belongs to the Tablighi Jamaat. Jameel, who received the Pride of Performance award, was included twice in the list of the 500 Most Influential Muslims.

On October 1, 1953, Tariq Jamil was born in Mian Channu, Pakistan. Jamil is a member of the Chauhan Rajput Sahu subtribe. During the administration of Sher Shah Suri, who also divided the territory surrounding Tulamba, his family held power in Tulamba.

Central Model School in Lahore is where Jamil finished his primary education. He studied at Jamia Arabia in Raiwind where he studied the Qur’an, hadiths, Sufism, logic, and fiqh. He graduated from Government College University in Lahore.

After completing a pre-medical education at Government College Lahore, Jamil enrolled in King Edward Medical College. However, he left the school before completing his MBBS in order to pursue religious studies.

Jamil is a member of the Deobandi philosophical system and has preached in various countries. He favors interethnic and interreligious harmony.The main themes of Jamil’s sermons include “self-purification, avoiding violence, adhering to Allah’s commands, and following the path of the Prophet Muhammad.”From 2013 through 2019, Jamil was constantly recognized by the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought in Jordan as one of The 500 Most Influential Muslims in the world.

In April 2020, he attributed the emergence and spread of COVID-19 to God’s wrath against women’s immodesty and societal dishonesty. In addition to asking for the country’s well-being and the elimination of vice, he stated that “when a Muslim’s daughter engages in immodesty and the youth (boys) wallow in immorality, then such a nation is subject to Allah’s wrath.”

Supporters of human rights and other Pakistani citizens denounced the comments. Shireen Mazari, the minister for human rights, responded by calling the remarks “totally reprehensible” and “misogynistic” for blaming women and young people for the ongoing coronavirus problem.

Jamil founded MTJ Brand, his primary apparel line. It made its debut in March 2021. Its corporate headquarters are in Karachi. It is alleged that the business’s profits are used to finance his madressahs and to build the nation’s schools and hospitals. In Tulamba, Khanewal, Jamil also established the Maulana Tariq Jamil Foundation, a nonprofit organization. It is an initiative to raise money for social work, healthcare, and education in Pakistan.

Where did Tariq Jameel study?

Maulana Tariq got enrolled to the King Edward Medical College in Lahore after completing his pre-medical courses. His attention shifted to Islamic Education at that point, under the influence of the Tablighi Jamaat. He received his Islamic education at Jamia Arabia, where he also studied Sufism, logic, the Qur’an, Hadith, and Islamic law.
